the inclusive bakery
Since 2017, Good Bread has provided an opportunity for adults with intellectual disabilities to find their place in society through work in the bakery. Over the past seven years, more than 70 people have had the chance to grow with us.
In Ukraine, most opportunities for people with autism, intellectual disabilities, and Down syndrome are limited. But they want to be part of a team and prove that they can work and develop. For our employees, working in the bakery is not just about gaining professional skills but also about therapy: they learn to work, see the results of their efforts, and make friends. This helps them realize their strengths and feel their significance in society.
Before the full-scale war, the bakery operated as a social business: we baked cupcakes, croissants, and cookies to order and sold them online. But on March 9, 2022, we changed our working model and began baking free bread—first for people in shelters in Kyiv, and later for cities and villages in Kyiv Oblast after their liberation. Since the beginning of the war, we have baked nearly a million loaves of bread, delivering it daily to frontline areas of Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions, and other areas.
Now, in addition to charitable initiatives, we produce signature sourdough bread and premium pastries made from the finest ingredients. We recently released a catalog of pastries for cafes, restaurants, and coffee shops, and our Head Pastry Chef is always ready to create exclusive desserts upon request.
By purchasing our products, you not only enjoy high-quality and delicious items but also support people with intellectual disabilities, who are actively involved in the production process. Together, we create opportunities for integration and development for anyone who wants to be part of society.
Each of you, each of your donations is bread and butter for people with mental disabilities.
