About the project
The project started in November 2021.
Three months before the full-scale war began, we prepared 3,000 meals and distributed them to people experiencing homelessness on the streets of Kyiv.
In February 2022, we paused the Food Fighters project. At that time, the bakery shifted its focus to baking bread for free. We delivered — and continue to deliver — this bread to residents of frontline and recently de-occupied areas of Ukraine.
Today, we have relaunched Food Fighters.
There are tens of thousands of people in Kyiv who struggle to access food — and they have a right to it. We want to provide meals and stand up for that right.
Another key goal of the project is to support people with disabilities who prepare these meals. Through this work, they gain professional skills and opportunities to grow within the bakery.
Food Fighters in numbers
Food Fighters is a project of the inclusive bakery Good Bread by Good People.
We provide people in need with hot, nutritious meals. These meals are prepared by people with intellectual disabilities who work alongside a professional chef.
